The United Nations Security Council will meet to discuss the crisis in Gaza.

 Funeral in Jabalia

On August 8, 2022, during their funeral in Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip, Palestinians carry the bodies of four teenage Palestinians who were killed during the most recent three days of conflict. The teenagers were members of the Najm family and were killed in the conflict.

NEW YORK: On Monday, the United Nations Security Council was scheduled to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the situation in Gaza. After three days of deadly conflict, a truce is currently holding between members of Islamic Jihad and Israel.

United Nations Security Council

The emergency meeting was called for on Saturday by China, which is presiding over the United Nations Security Council during the month of August. China’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Zhang Jun, expressed his country’s concern over the worst fighting in Gaza since an 11-day war last year. Before the meeting, the Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, accused Islamic Jihad of employing civilians in Gaza as human shields. Since Friday, Israel has been conducting an intense aerial and artillery bombardment in the Gaza Strip.

According to the health ministry of Gaza, the fighting that took place in the enclave resulted in the deaths of 44 people, including 15 children, and the wounding of 360 people. The ceasefire that was reached late on Sunday was mediated by Egypt.

Breach Of The Ceasefire

Both parties have stated that they will exercise their right to respond with force if there is a breach of the ceasefire. The consultations of the Security Council are scheduled to take place on Monday afternoon in New York City. According to a number of diplomatic sources, there will not be any statements issued after the meeting.
